Dorothy M. (Curto) Parsons

Dorothy Mae Parsons, 91, of Litchfield, passed away Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:52 p.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Born July 22, 1926 in Morrisonville, IL. A daughter of Louis and Genevieve (Taylor) Curto.  She married William Richard Grindley on December 31, 1963. Mr. Grindley passed away March 17, 1976. She then married Melvin Guy Parsons on September 25, 1978 and he survives.

Mrs. Parsons retired from the Roller Derby Skate Corp. after 21 years of service, where she was the “lead line” lady. She enjoyed reading, yardwork and floral gardening, watching western movies and decorating for all the holidays and seasons.  She was a life member of the Women of the Moose Chapter #528. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and her favorite player was catcher, Yadier Molina

In addition to her husband Melvin, Mrs. Parsons is survived by;

4 Sons; Danny (Janice) Leonard, Sam (Donna) Leonard, Johny (Melissa) Leonard and Ricky Grindley all of Litchfield.

2 daughters; Kitty (Charles) Leonard-Sneed of Spring, TX and Marla (Joe) Mitchell of Broken Arrow, OK

10 Grandchildren; Jackie Mae (Brian) Cowley, Danny Leonard, Jr., Sherry (Dan) Weeding, Adrienne (Aaron) Forst, Tyler (Morgan) Mitchell, Carrie Cooper, Brandon Leonard, Bruce Leonard, Heather (Rick) Copple and Ryan Grindley. 20 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents and Mr. Grindley, Mrs. Parsons is preceded in death by; her brothers Wayne Curto, Carl Curto, James Curto, and sister, Louise “Sis” Adams.  

Funeral Services for Mrs. Parsons will be conducted Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. The Rev. Ed Fogle will officiate and burial will be in the Elm Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m.  The family requests memorials to Children’s Hospital of St. Louis, MO.
