Wilma “Jo” Josephine Stamer, age 85, of Springfield passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 10:33 p.m. in St John’s Hospital. She was born May 16, 1935 in Springfield, Missouri, the daughter of Dines and Leana F (Noblitt) Climer. She married Dwane Stamer on December 31, 1955. He preceded her in death on August 14, 1999. Jo was known for her kindness, behind-the-scenes volunteer work, and giving. Not one to be in the spotlight, she preferred to go about her life quietly while staying busy helping others. From supporting teachers in the classroom and being a den mother to scouts, to helping friends, neighbors, family, and even strangers that needed a little help or cheering up, Jo was there. In addition to her hobbies involving reading, sewing, knitting, and cooking, Jo was best known for her baking, especially her pies. Nearly every week, Jo would bake a pie for an unexpecting neighbor or friend to brighten their day.
She is survived by;
2 sons, Greg (Debbie) Stamer, of Glen Carbon
Kirk Stamer of Phoenix Arizona
3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great niece.
Private family services to be held at a later date.
