Wilma Joyce Taylor, 96, of Litchfield, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021 at 7:10 p.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.
She was born in rural Fayette County, Illinois, near Bingham, on March 23, 1925. A daughter of Roland Ray and Bessie Mae (Newcomb) Davis. She attended Whitten Grade School and Bingham High School. She married Oscar David Taylor, Jr. on June 29, 1946 in Chicago. Mr. Taylor passed away on December 27, 1990.
Mrs. Taylor was employed at WEPCO Manufacturing in Litchfield for several years, Super X Drugs in Springfield as a cashier and store clerk. She was also a waitress.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of the First Baptist Church of Litchfield for several years. A member of the Berean Sunday School Class and the FBC Keenagers group. She enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, but most of all, being with her family, especially her grandchildren and their families.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her son, David (Mary Beth) Taylor, daughter Pamela (Dale) Hull both of Litchfield, and Daughter in law, Jeannie Norman of St. Joseph, MO.
Five grandchildren; Brian (Katrina) Norman, Kara Taylor Shaw, Kyle Taylor, Kate Hull and Lisa Norman Stevens. Eight great grandchildren; Terry Norman, Christopher Norman, Ashley Kennedy, Tyler Stevens, Jade Taylor, Diamond and Emily Wilcox and Kaliyah Brown. Two great-great grandchildren; Mariah and Bentley Kennedy.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Taylor is preceded in death by her son Wade Norman. Her sister Juanita Jackson, a grandson Philip Hull, and a great grandson Cody Stevens.
Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will be conducted Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 12:00 noon at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Burial will be in the Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Wednesday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
