Wilma J. Grove

Wilma June Grove, 90, of Litchfield, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at 2:25 p.m. in Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center. She was born April 25, 1930, in Hornsby, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Bertha (Davis) Atteberry.  Wilma graduated Gillespie High School with the class of 1948. She married Harry Albert Grove on September 26, 1948 in the First Baptist Church of Litchfield. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2000. Wilma worked for Sears, J.J. Newberry and was an office secretary for Dr. Rudolph Sommer. She was a member of Litchfield Southern Baptist Church and the St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed going to Jubelt’s for coffee and fellowship. Mrs. Grove is survived by:

1 son;                 David (Cindy) Grove of Litchfield.

1 daughter;      Sharon (Richard) Wimberly of Litchfield

1 sister;              Vernetta Anderson of Tucson, Arizona

5 grandchildren; Stacie (Brad) Stanford, Steven (Alisha) Wimberly, Michael Grove, Melissa (Brent) Austin, Abby (Barry) Wright

7 great-grandchildren; Kaili Stanford, Taylor Stanford, Morgan Wimberly, Claire Wimberly, Breann Jakich, Grace Wright and Andrew Wright.

In addition to her husband, Harry, she was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Harry Grove and Bruce Grove; 1 brother, Raymond Atteberry; 2 sisters, Reba Hill and Ruth Scherer; and 1 granddaughter, Jennifer Grove.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Litchfield Southern Baptist Church.  Rev. Mike Rogers will officiate.  Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church.

The family suggests memorials to Litchfield Veteran’s Memorial Garden.
