Wayne Lee Carriker

Wayne Lee Carriker, 69, of Hartford, formerly of Raymond, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, October 17, 2025. He was born in Litchfield, IL, on August 31, 1956, a son of Elmer and Leona (Walch) Carriker. Wayne graduated from Lincolnwood High School, Raymond, with the class of 1974. He was employed as a truck driver most of his career, the last several years he was owner-operator of his own truck and drove many miles transporting various freight around the country. If you could name a mile marker on a specific highway, he could name a restaurant or other landmark that was near it! Wayne loved working on small engines and saved many lawnmowers in his time. He made friends wherever he went; he was good-hearted and helped anyone he could. Wayne served as a volunteer firefighter for several years with the Hartford Volunteer Fire Department and was also a part-time employee of the village of Hartford. Wayne lived life in “Wayne’s World”, and that was what made him happy.

 His brothers, Joe Carriker of Raymond and Roger (Terry) Carriker of St. Louis, MO

Several nieces and nephews

His companion, Debra Minor of Moro

Special friends and caregivers, Rob, Lois and Dennis

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Leona Carriker, and a sister, Alice Carriker.

Visitation for Wayne will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at First Baptist Church of Hartford, 301 N. Delmar Avenue, Hartford. A prayer service will follow the visitation, with Rev. Tom Plogue officiating. A graveside committal service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond. Rev. Gary Schwab will officiate. A time of food and fellowship will follow at A Community of Faith Church, 101 W. Bell Street, Raymond.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making monetary donations to the First Baptist Church of Hartford, 301 N. Delmar Avenue, Hartford, IL 62048 or to OSF Moeller Oncology Center, 2200 Central Avenue, Alton, IL 62002.
