Virginia Mary Frank Mizera passed away peacefully in her home in Denton, Tx on Wednesday morning March 4th, 2026. She spent her last days surrounded by family and her familiar photos and memories. She was married to Thomas Edward Mizera until his passing in 2001. In her mind she remained married to him till the end.
She was mother to five daughters. Angelique Mizera (Christa Veenstra), Lisa Currie, Juliet Mizera, Carin Mizera, and Chrisandra Mizera. She loved being a grandparent to her four grandchildren, Leighann Mizera, Logan Currie, Olivia Currie, and Becky Kohut Smith (Chad Smith). She also loved being a great grandmother to Becky and Chad’s twins, Hunter and Collin.
Virginia, or Ginger to many, loved all her family; Siblings, nieces and nephews, and their children. She loved Tom’s family as her own from all her brothers and sisters-in-law, to each and every niece and nephew. She could even remember the names of the great nieces and nephews! She had cousins whom she cherished, too many to count! And she remembered birthdays! Cards in the mail in the “old days” and Facebook messages to so many in our modern times.
Virgina survived most of her beloved friends yet is long remembered by their families. Too many to list but know that you are all remembered.
Virginia loved flowers and birds and gardening. She loved playing Scrabble. She was a whiz at many other games she liked to play at family gatherings. She loved fabric and sewing. She was admired for her story telling. She loved music from Dixieland Jazz to Willie Nelson to the Beach Boys. And so much, much more… She often said “I’ve lived a very full life.”
A funeral mass followed by cemetery and a celebration of life will be held on May 9 at 10 AM at St Raymond’s Catholic Church, 306 McElroy, Raymond, IL 62660.
