Virginia Birdsell Obituary

Virginia Frances Birdsell, 91, of Jerseyville, formerly of Mt. Olive, passed away on Mon., Dec. 14, 2020 at 6:45 a.m. at Willow Rose Rehab & Healthcare in Jerseyville.  She was born on Mar. 14, 1929, in Woodburn, IL, a daughter of Ray Clement and Ida Alice (Wood) Hill.  Virginia graduated from Mt. Olive High School with the Class of 1947.  She was a realtor and secretary with M.A.M. Real Estate in Litchfield.  Virginia had also worked as a telephone operator with IL Central Telephone Co. in Mt. Olive and Lincoln, and IL Consolidated Telephone Co. in Litchfield.  She married her first husband Charles Lee Byrne in 1951.  They later divorced.  Virginia then married Marvin Delmar Birdsell on Oct. 16, 1954 at the Methodist Church Parsonage in Mt. Olive, IL.  He preceded her in death on July 11, 2004.  Virginia was a member of Living Stones Fellowship in Litchfield.  She was a life member of National Home Gardening Club, and Hermon Chapter No. 95 Order of the Eastern Star (OES).  Virginia is survived by:

2 sons, Mark (Patricia) Birdsell of Jerseyville

              James (Jeanne) Birdsell of Bethalto

1 sister, Ida “Shirley” Morgan of Kansas City, MO

1 granddaughter, Stevie (Joshua) McAdams of Jerseyville

1 step-grandson, Bradley (Jessica) Kimble of Jerseyville

5 great-grandchildren, Kendrin, Cearin, Aylin, Ebrin, and Adrin McAdams

3 step-great-grandchildren, Anthony, Micah, and Elijah Kimble

In addition to her husband Marvin, she was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Ray Hill; Reginold Wood; 4 sisters, Irma Payne; Hazel Rull; Norma Walker; Dolores Bennett.

Private family graveside services will be held on Fri., Dec. 18, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at Wood-Davis Cemetery in Bunker Hill, IL.  No visitation will be held.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Litchfield Food Pantry.
