Vernon Henry Jacob, 86, of Litchfield, IL passed away Friday, November 13, 2020 at 7:40 a.m. in Montgomery Place. He was born in Cahokia Township in Macoupin County, a son of Henry Richard and Crescentia L. (Boehm) Jacob, Jr. Vernon was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving during Peace Time. He married the former Ruth Lorraine Billiter on March 9, 1957 at Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield. She preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 1999. He later married Barbara Marie McAnarney on March 1, 2001 in Naples, FL. She preceded him in death on Nov. 26, 2011. Vernon was a coal miner for 42 years at Monterey Coal Company in Carlinville until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, and the United Mine Workers of America, Local 228/1613. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and sitting around a camp fire with family and friends. Vernon especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

15 grandchildren, Ashley, Danielle and David Jacob; Alex, Gabrielle & Kelsey Gee; Dylan and Savannah Renken; Noah and Kendra Jacob; Karly Fulton, Caleb Fuchs, Riley Fulton; Taylor Fuchs and Jackson Waldeck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ruth; second wife, Barbara; 1 brother, Virgil Jacob; 2 sisters, Velva Jacob and Velma Holman
Graveside services for Vernon will be held on Thurs., Nov. 19, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Bro. Ed Fogle will officiate. Private family visitation will be held. The family is planning to have a celebration of life gathering for Vernon in the Spring/Summer of 2021. Any memorials made may be designated to the Litchfield Food Pantry or the Litchfield Veterans Memorial Garden.
