Sue Jones

Sue Jones, 92, of Litchfield, passed away on February 4, 2026 at 3:54 p.m. at Litchfield Health & Rehab Center. She was born on November 16, 1933, in Beechwood, KY, a daughter of Elmer Nelson & Emma (Coleman) Covington. Sue graduated from High School with the Class of 1951. She married Rev. Robert Houston Jones in Kentontown, KY, on June 26, 1951.

Sue worked in Human Resources in the Hiring Division for Lockhead-Martin for 10 years before her retirement in 1998. She previously worked as secretary to the college president at Johnson University in Knoxville, TN for several years.

Throughout her life, Sue’s faith was her guiding light. Alongside her husband in his ministry, she served with a joyful heart, eventually becoming a cherished member of Christian Church of Litchfield. She lived out her convictions through her gift for music and her tireless spirit of service, notably through her volunteer work with Hearts United in Litchfield. Sue found joy in the simple beauties of life. Whether she was filling the house with the sound of the piano, stitching together a new creation, or tending to her beloved indoor and outdoor gardens, she did so with a gentle and creative spirit. Her family will fondly remember her passion for reading and the comfort of her famous Skyline Chili. Above all, Sue’s legacy is one of devotion to the Lord and the family she loved so dearly.

In addition to her husband, Robert, Sue was preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard Jones in infancy, daughter, Lisa Jones.

Funeral services for Sue will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Tim Barbee with Christian Church of Litchfield will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
