Sean Alan Smith

Sean Alan Smith, 55, of Litchfield, passed away at 9:11 p.m. on August 24, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born on December 18, 1966 in Litchfield, to Elbert Harold “Butch” and Bonnie Sue (Weller) Smith, Jr. Sean was a 1985 graduate of Litchfield High School. He married the former Diane May and they later divorced.

Sean was a corrections officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections for many years, retiring in 2017. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1634. He loved the outdoors, boating and spending time at his lake lot, and mushroom hunting. Sean was a car fanatic and enjoyed going to car shows. Sean cherished spending time with his family and friends.

His daughter, Lauren Smith of Katy, TX.

2 bonus children, Kelsey Crawford & Kyle (Brittany) Sutton, BOTH from Litchfield.

His sister, Michele (Timothy) Driscoll of Litchfield.

3 nieces, Amy Driscoll of Westfield, IN; Andrea (Danielle) Richardson of Collinsville, IL; Jennifer Driscoll of Indianapolis, IN.

1 nephew, Jonathan Driscoll of Litchfield.

2 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew, Scout, Jasper, & Hailey.

2 grandchildren, Hazel Austin & Maverick Austin.

2 bonus granddaughters, Tinlee & Izzy.

Sean is preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie; paternal grandparents Elbert H. & Opal Smith, Sr.; & maternal grandparents, Edgar & Mildred Weller.

Funeral services for Sean will be conducted Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until service time. The family suggests memorials to Litchfield Veterans Memorial Garden or Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634.
