Sandra Mae (Higgins) Karlson

Sandra Mae Karlson, 73, of Litchfield, passed away on Thurs. April 21, 2022 at 3:49 p.m. at her residence. Mrs. Karlson was born on April 28, 1948 in Quincy, IL, a daughter of Elmo and Betty Maxine (Hudelson) Higgins. She was a 1966 graduate of Quincy High School and was a homemaker. She first married Wayne Edward May in 1966 and they divorced in 1996. In 2006, she married David Karlson, he preceded her in death in 2011. Mrs. Karlson enjoyed arts and crafts, baking cakes, and loved her dogs. Surviving are:

3 sons, Jeffrey (April) May of Ewing, MO; Todd May of Mt. Olive, IL; and Kevin (Jennifer) May of Roswell, NM.

1 daughter, Rachel Warfield of Louisville, KY.

1 brother, Elmo “Larry” Higgins of Quincy, IL.

1 sister, Margaret (Ernest) Hills of Litchfield.

13 grandchildren, Matthew (Anastacia) May; Crystal May; Jeffery May; Alicia (Andrew) Hose; Rebeka May; Ty Bateman; Cameron Dunn; Zachary (Catherine) May; Stephen (Kayla) May; Brendan Kampwerth; Emily May; Luke Crawford; and Levi Crawford.

Several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Karlson was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Rebecca May.

Funeral services for Mrs. Karlson will be held on Tues., April 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Gary Schwab of First Presbyterian Church of Litchfield will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Montgomery County Paws Care.
