Ronald H. Pursell

Ronald Harrison Pursell, 84 of Litchfield, passed away on Mon., Nov. 30, 2020 at 11:16 a.m. at Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care in Litchfield.  He was born on Aug. 3, 1936 in DuQuoin, IL, a son of Harrison “Tub” and Dorothy (McLean) Pursell.  Mr. Pursell was in the Illinois National Guard serving during Peacetime.  He was a graduate of Litchfield High School with the Class of 1954.  Mr. Pursell married the former Marie Louise Albrecht on June 26, 1965 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfield.  She survives.  In his earlier years, Ronald worked at Wepco Manufacturing, Weaver Manufacturing in Springfield, and Roller Derby Skate Corp in Litchfield for several years.  He recently worked as a laborer with the City of Litchfield – Street Department until his retirement.  Mr. Pursell coached youth basketball for several years in Litchfield and was in the Illinois Coaches Hall of Fame.  He enjoyed all sports, and was an avid Cardinal’s fan.  Mr. Pursell especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  In addition to his wife Marie, Ronald is survived by:

2 sisters, Donna (Paul) Frerichs of Litchfield

                Linda Skinner of Carlinville

3 grandchildren, Courtney (Nick) Wood; Casey Frerichs; Tayler (Zach) Shelton

5 great-grandchildren, Heaven, Jayde, Serenity, Tori, & Colin

Several nieces & nephews

Mr. Pursell was preceded in death by his parents.

Private family funeral services for Ronald will be held on Sat., Dec. 5, 2020.  Rev. Mike Rogers of Litchfield Southern Baptist Church will officiate.  Burial will be in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend.  No visitation will be held.  Memorials may be designated to the Litchfield High School Athletic Program, with checks payable to Litchfield High School.
