Ronald Bishop, Sr. Obituary

Ronald Lee Bishop, Sr., 75, of Sesser, IL, formerly of Litchfield, passed away on Wed., Feb. 5, 2020 at 3:15 p.m. at Franklin Hospital in Benton. He was born on Aug. 18, 1944, in Ottawa, IL, the son of Warren Edgar and Gertrude Frances (Faris) Bishop.  Mr. Bishop was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.  Ron married Sandra Kay Ulrich on March 1, 1969 and they later divorced.  He married Marsha Joan (Spann) Wilt on May 12, 2018, at Rend Lake.  She survives.  Mr. Bishop was a coal miner for Consolidated Coal Co. in Sesser, IL.  He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.  Mr. Bishop worked for Aramark for 16 years until his retirement.  Ron enjoyed tinkering with old cars. In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by:

2 sons;                               Ronald, Jr. (Kelly) Bishop of Frankfort, IL 

                                           Cory (Shannon) Bishop of Litchfield, IL

1 step-son;                        Wesley (Jenifer) Wilt of Pinkneyville, IL

1 daughter;                       Keri Bishop of Litchfield, IL

2 step-daughters;           Carla Wilt of Benton, IL; Brandi Wilt of Sesser, IL

1 sister;                          Carolyn (Roy “Bub”) Hendrickson of Litchfield, IL

8 grandchildren;             Haley, Allison, Chloe, Kyra, Brawly, Rylie, Raquel, and Brock

7 step-grandchildren;    Avery, Brody, Anthia, Hannah, Stavian, LaRaya, and Aniyah

2 step-great-grandchildren; Isaiah and Hallie

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his grandson, Zyan Bishop.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Litchfield Moose Lodge on Saturday, February 8, 2020 beginning at 5:00 p.m. for a time of food, fellowship and sharing of stories.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 9, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Sunday beginning at noon until the time of service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis or to the American Cancer Society.
