Rev. Robert James “Bob” Mosser, 71, of Litchfield, passed away Friday, March 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at his residence.
Born April 8, 1948 in Decatur, IL, a son of George and Barbara (Smith) Mosser. Bob was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married the former Glenda Sue Jones on September 28, 1974 in Decatur and she survives.
Bob was employed by the Illinois Department of Corrections, Graham Correction Center in Hillsboro as a corrections officer for 27 years. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and vocational pastor. Bob enjoyed reading, painting mini figurines, spending time with his granddaughters and watching western movies.
In addition to his wife Glenda, Bob is survived by a son; Adam (Helena) Mosser of Mansfield, TX, a sister; Angie (Wayne) Moody of Litchfield and two granddaughters; Elsa and Audrey Mosser.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church, 1303 N. 18th Ave., Litchfield. The Rev. Roy Eller and Rev. Dr. Ronald Rhodus will co-officiate. Military honors will be given and cremation rites will follow the service.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. The family suggests memorials to; St. Jude Children’s Hospital or New Hope Baptist Church.
