Richard Wallner Obituary

Richard Louis Wallner, 96, of Litchfield, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020, at 3:30 a.m. in his home.  He was born on July 9, 1923, in Chatham, IL, a son of Louis and Alvina (Luedtke) Wallner.  Richard’s Christian baptism was July 29, 1923.  Mr. Wallner was self-employed as a farmer his entire life.  He farmed in the Chatham and Waggoner areas.  Richard married the former Winifred Ann Benson on April 17, 1955, at the First Presbyterian Church in Springfield.  She survives.  Mr. Wallner was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church – LCMS.  He was very active in church functions in both Farmersville and Chatham churches.  He also helped with construction of the Faith Lutheran Church in Litchfield.  In addition to his wife, Mr. Wallner is survived by:

1 son,              David Louis (Donna) Wallner of Ferguson, MO

3 daughters,    Elizabeth Ann (Fred) Barnabe of Monticello, IL

                        Mary Louise (Thom) Hart of Atwater, IL

                        Rebecca Ann Wallner of Litchfield, IL

10 grandchildren, April (Lance) Wallis; Michael Wallner; Heidi (Cecil) McClendon; Frederick (Kateah) Barnabe; Anne (Dustin) Reinbold; Tammy (David) Boyce; Mike (Stacey) Hart; Alyssa (Husband, Jason Barto) Hart; Sean (Fiancée, Michelle Watson) Hart; Rachel (Shane) Hanners

21 great-grandchildren, Anika, Tobiah, & Micah Wallis; Brooke & Carly Barnabe; Matt (Diane), Miles, & Macon Boyce; Dakota (John Craig) Kirby; Gabrielle (Fiancé, Darrin Wax) Johnson;  Madelyn Boyce; Justin, Morgan, Ashley, & Carley Hart; Alexis (Justin) Brown; Annabelle Barto; Taytum Watson; Layla, Melanie, & Waylon Hanners

Mr. Wallner was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Herman Wallner; and 4 sisters, Anita Bloechle, Amanda Boehme, Pauline Corrigan, and Alberta Nation.

Private family funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2020, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  Burial will be in Rovey Cemetery, Farmersville, IL.  No visitation will be held.  The family suggests memorials be made to Lutheran Hour Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center, St. Louis, MO, 63141.
