Richard B. Adams, born on August 29, 1934, in St. Louis, Missouri, passed away at his home in Litchfield, Illinois, on April 25, 2025, at the age of 90.
He married his first real love, Delores, in 1955, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and resilience, sharing 67 years of marriage until her passing in 2022. Together, they raised four children—three daughters and one son—instilling in them the values of kindness, loyalty, and hard work.
Richard was known for his steadfast loyalty to family and friends. An avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, he rarely missed a game. He also found joy in birdwatching with Delores, especially delighting in the return of purple martins each season.
A passionate Democrat, Richard served for many years in local government as an Alderman and Township Supervisor, contributing significantly to the community he grew up in and loved dearly. He spent many years as a laborer and was the manager of the tire department for Rural King directly before retirement.
A skilled handyman, Richard could fix just about anything and was always ready to lend a hand to those in need. He also spent many happy years living in Daytona Beach, Florida, a place he cherished and built countless beautiful memories in.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Delores, his parents, his three daughters, and many dear friends and family members. He is survived by his only son, Richard Adams (wife Lori), brother-in-law Keith (Bonnie) Horn, seven grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss him dearly.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 2nd, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Plummer Funeral Home. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 AM, with burial at Crabtree Cemetery in Litchfield. Rev.
