Rex Pitchford

Rex Allen Pitchford, 72, of Raymond, passed away on Fri., April 9, 2021 at 7:50 a.m. in his home.  He was born on Sept. 4, 1948, in Hillsboro, IL, a son of Cecil and Frances Marie (Mark) Pitchford.  Mr. Pitchford graduated from Lincolnwood High School with the Class of 1966.  His first marriage was to Jeanne Krager in 1966.  They later divorced.  Rex later married the former Diane Elizabeth Wehrle on Aug. 2, 1975 in a log cabin church at Turkey Run State Park in Rockville, IN.  She survives.  Mr. Pitchford was self employed as a Professional Truck Driver; he worked with Holland Trucking, and finished ABF Freight Lines.  Rex also worked as a driver for Wood Farms for several years.  He was a member of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond.  He was an EMT and Volunteer Firefighter with the Raymond-Harvel Volunteer Fire Dept.  Mr. Pitchford was on the Raymond 4th of July committee, served on the Raymond Village Board, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Midwest Truckers Association, and Teamsters Local 916.  Rex enjoyed auto racing, Indy Car, NASCAR, Stockcar, and Demolition Derbies.  In addition to his wife, Diane, he is survived by:

1 brother, Darrell Pitchford (friend, Juanita Mosby) of Raymond

1 sister, Linda (Alan) Weller of Carlinville

3 granddaughters; Cecilia, Valerie, & Rebecca Pitchford

3 step-grandchildren; Angela Baskin, Julie McGeath, Luke McGeath

7 great-grandchildren; Cayden Parker, Layla Parker, Lucas, Jackson, Patrick, Althea, and Anna Orrick

Rex was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Pitchford will be held on Tues., April 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Raymond.  The Very Rev. Albert Allen, V.F. will preside.  Burial will be in St. Raymond Cemetery in Raymond.  Visitation will be held on Mon., April 12, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church, with the Rosary prayer at 7:00 p.m.  The family suggests any memorials be made to Raymond-Harvel Volunteer Fire Dept. or Raymond-Harvel Ambulance Service.  Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing and masks will be required.
