Renate Viseur Obituary

Renate Viseur, 82, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 7:05 a.m., at Copper Creek Cottages in Litchfield.

She was born July 17, 1940, in Freiburg, Germany, a daughter of Ludwig and Emma (Scherer) Stelz.  She traveled to the United States in July 1961, employed as a nanny.  She cared for six children; one of those children invented Barney the purple dinosaur.  She married Don Viseur on September 8, 1962, in Decatur, Illinois.  She became a US citizen in 1967.  Mrs. Viseur took great pride in and enjoyed working in her yard, enjoyed her ducks and swans, boating and water skiing, and visiting the casino.  She also enjoyed visiting the country of Israel.  She was self-employed as a dog groomer at Clip & Snip in Decatur, Illinois.

She is survived by:

1 son, Michael “Mike” (Debra) Viseur of Litchfield,

1 daughter, Renee (Brian) Kulick of Litchfield,

6 grandchildren, Paige (Brian) Hampton; Hayley (Scott) Stephens; Mackenzie (Danny Robertson) Viseur; Riley (Reese) Radtke; Karsyn Kulick and Reece Kulick,

6 great-grandchildren, Colby Viseur; Zella Hampton; Bennett Hampton; Logan Stephens; Blake Stephens and Reid Robertson,

and several nieces and nephews residing in Germany.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Inge Haas and Margaret Thaler, and two grandchildren, Gage and Cade Kulick.

No services are planned.  Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
