Paul Anderson Obituary

Paul Dean Anderson, 59, of rural Irving, formerly of Raymond and Litchfield, passed away Monday, August 1st, at 2:58 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Born in Litchfield, March 14, 1963. A son of Jesse Franklin and Agnes Irene “Babe” (Stogsdill) Anderson. He was a graduate of Lincolnwood High School, Raymond, IL with the Class of 1981. 

Mr. Anderson worked in automotive service and sales for most of his working career.  He was service manager at Landmark Chrysler in Springfield and Freedom Chevrolet in Virden for several years. He did mechanical and repair work and sold pre-owned cars with he and his wife, Shiela, and their business, Anderson Automotive.   They also owned and operated Hyper Speed Transport Co., and AmeriTrailers.  Mr. Anderson taught  Master Mechanic’s class to the First Baptist Church youth group.   In his earlier years, Mr. Anderson was a trained body guard and limousine driver for Star Limousine in Seattle, WA.   

Mr. Anderson was a big fan of NASCAR and racing in general.  He along with family and friends would travel to various race venues. He collected die-cast racing cars and enjoyed model railroading. A lover of good music, oldies, gospel, and country. His favorite artist was Elvis and he was a personal friend of Garth Brooks.

Mr. Anderson married the former Shiela Rae Turner on February 14, 1992 in Carlinville, IL., and she survives.  Additional surviving family members are:

Six sons; Sean (Heather) Rooney of Enumclaw, WA., Matthew (Jamie) Rooney of Jacksonville, IL., Shawn (Lisa) Anderson of Alton, IL., Eric (Melissa) Anderson of St. Louis, MO., Bo (Sadie) Godar of Chatham, IL., and David Anderson of Santa Cruz, CA.

Three daughters; Heather (Jerry) Scheidt of Buckley, WA., Sarah (Jason) Hester of Springfield, IL., and Samantha (Justin) Lawson of Irving, IL.

One brother; George (Vickie) Anderson of Raymond

Two sisters; Andrea (Charles) Harston of Witt, IL and Cheryl Zaidi of Litchfield.

23 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.

Mr. Anderson is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Stacia Seaton.

Funeral Services for Mr. Anderson will be held Friday, August 5, 2022, at 12:00 Noon at the First Baptist Church in Litchfield.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until the time of Service. A luncheon for family and friends will immediately follow and a procession will line up following the luncheon to go to Raymond City Cemetery where Mr. Anderson will be laid to rest.  The Rev. Jason Plumer, Pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate.  Memorials are suggested to the Family of Paul D. Anderson, C/O Sheila Anderson to assist with funeral expenses.
