Patricia "Pat" Lynne (Meyer) Cailey

Patricia Lynne (Meyer) Cailey, 73, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 11:02 p.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Born December 30,1949 in Litchfield. A daughter of Donald M. and Mercedes (Kopp) Meyer. She was a graduate of Witt High School with the Class of 1968 and attended Lincoln Land Community College. Pat was employed at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield her entire working career of 55 years of service, working in the finance, insurance and legal departments. She assisted and guided many elderly patients with their Medicare and insurance matters. 

She was the treasurer of the American Cancer Assn., Montgomery County Chapter and its successor chapter, the Montgomery County Cancer Assn.  She enjoyed fishing and assisted her husband Gene with numerous bass tournaments over the years.  Pat was known as a great cook and for her floral gardens and her goldfish ponds around her home.  Pat enjoyed wintering in Okeechobee, FL, and was a member of the Lake Port Gardening Club.  Pat married Gene Cailey on March 18, 1978 at Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Gene, Pat is survived by her mother, Mercedes Meyer of Witt, IL, her daughter, Sandra (Scott) Schluckebier of Donnellson, IL, Step sons, Phillip Cailey of Livingston, TX and Andrew (Charlotte) Cailey of Greenwood, IN, and a sister, Christine (Mark) Davidson of Butler, IL, and five step- grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home.   The family suggests memorials be given to the Montgomery County Cancer Assn., or Montgomery County PAWS CARE.  A private Family inurnment will be held at a later time at St. Barbara’s Cemetery in Witt, IL.
