Nancy Helen (Holliday) Titsworth, 77, of Litchfield, passed away on Sun., December 27, 2020 at 5:12 a.m. in Copper Creek Cottages Memory Care in Litchfield. She was born on April 13, 1943, in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of Gerald Eugene and Helen Faye (Gates) Holliday. Nancy graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 1961. She attended Eastern Illinois University where she graduated with a B.A. and Masters in education. Mrs. T, as she was known, was a teacher with the Litchfield Community School District #12 for 36 years before her retirement in 2002. She married Elvis Lee Titsworth on March 5, 1966 at the First Baptist Church of Litchfield. He survives. Nancy was a member of Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield, where she served as a Deaconess and Elder. She also volunteered her time helping with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Litchfield Country Club and PEO Sorority. Nancy taught evening classes at Lincoln Land Community College, provided private tutoring, enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, and she enjoyed planning and helping build her new home. She was a proud Meema and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, Nancy is survived by:
1 daughter, Amy (Dan) Newkirk, of Litchfield
1 brother, Jerry (Ruth) Holliday, of Raymond
1 sister, Kathy (Pat) Fitzgerald, of Indian Land, SC
1 sister-in-law, Virginia Holliday, of Jacksonville
2 grandchildren, Betsy (Jake) Szerletich and Seth Newkirk
2 great-grandchildren, Emma and Chloe Szerletich
And a special family friend, Grace Ballard
She was preceded in death by her parents; and 1 brother, Thomas Holliday
Private family memorial service will be held on Monday, January 4, 2021. Rev. Cassie Sexton-Riggs will officiate. A walk-through visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home on Monday, January 4, 2021. Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing and masks will be required. The family suggests memorials be made to Mrs. “T’s” Scholarship Fund.
