Mary Josephine Horn, 92, of Litchfield, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022, at 3:53 p.m., at her residence.
She was born on July 18, 1930, in Litchfield, to Amos and Marian (Worrell) Holden. Mrs. Horn attended Litchfield schools. She married Charles Melvin Horn on Dec. 6, 1947, in Hillsboro, IL, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1986. Mrs. Horn was employed at St. Francis Hospital as a surgical aide for 35 years. She attended Walshville Baptist Church. During her lifetime, Mrs. Horn enjoyed dancing, weekly card games with friends, camping, working jigsaw puzzles and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by:
1 son, Larry (Melody Jo) Horn, of Litchfield
1 daughter, Theresa (Jon) Vandehei, of Whiteland, IN
8 grandchildren, Dana (James) Franklin, Linda (Darren) Street, Deanna Vogel, April (Kevin) Stewart, Jennifer LaPorte, Nicole (T.J.) Williams, Stephanie Roberts, and Troy (Anjee) Roberts
19 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren
Mrs. Horn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Melvin Horn and Earl Allen Horn; one grandson, Charles Horn; a brother, Leonard Holden; and a sister, Violet Blevins.
Funeral services for Mrs. Horn will be conducted on Monday, Sept. 12, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Ed Fogle will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be made to the Litchfield Food Pantry or Coats for Kids.
