Mary Gail (Saathoff) Dycus, 74, of Litchfield, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at 4:04 p.m. at her home. Born February 5, 1949 in Litchfield, she was the daughter of Harry George and Matilda Mae (Bruce) Saathoff.
Mary graduated from Litchfield High School in the class of 1967. She married Dennis Dycus and was co-owner of Den-Mar Trucking with him. They later divorced. Mary also had been employed by the State of Illinois Secretary of State Office.
She enjoyed the outdoors while she was working in her flower gardens and riding her “trike” motorcycle. Mary was a loving and faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Litchfield.
Mary is survived by her three nieces, Linda Kalaskie of Springfield, Phyllis Jenkins of Carlinville, Kathleen (Randy) McFarland of Collinsville, and her nephew, Lee Saathoff of Virginia. She also leaves her great niece, Heather Laurent of Bingham, and her four great nephews, David Kalaskie of Springfield, Nathan Kalaskie of Chatham, Ricky (Emily) Jenkins, II of Springfield, and David McFarland of Collinsville.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, David Saathoff, and her four sisters, Marita Saathoff, Paula Perrine, Dolores Butts, and Dorothy Saathoff.
Plummer Funeral Home is in charge of services for Mary. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 10:00 – 11:45 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home. Graveside services following, at 12:00 noon at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. The Rev. Roy Eller of New Hope Baptist Church will officiate.
The family suggests memorials to New Hope Baptist Church or Adopt-A-Pet - Macoupin County Animal Control & Adoption Center, as she loved her church and animals.
