Mark R. Schmidt

Mark Russell Schmidt, 60, of Springfield, formerly of Litchfield, passed away on Mon., Sept. 20, 2021.  He was born on March 3, 1961, in Litchfield, a son of Earl August and Barbara Wiley (Russell) Schmidt.  Mark was a graduate of Litchfield High School with the Class of 1979.  He then went on to study at Southern Illinois University – Carbondale and graduated with the Class of 1983 with a degree in Business Finance.  He worked as a Financial Analyst with the State of Illinois.  Mark was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield in 1974.  He is survived by:

Mark was preceded in death by his maternal & paternal grandparents, Al & Evelyn Russell; and August “Gus” & Alma Schmidt; 2 cousins, Brad Brown and Laura Moore.

A private family graveside memorial service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.  Rev. Fred Kraemer will officiate.  The family suggests memorials be designated to the Litchfield Veteran’s Memorial Garden.
