Obituary

Marjorie (Fraser) Parnell passed away July 13, 2023, at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. Services will be held at Plummer Funeral Services on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 18, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Gary J. Schwab of the First Presbyterian Church of Litchfield will officiate.

Marjorie was born in Litchfield, Illinois on November 19, 1927, a daughter of Ernest and Lillie (Steward) Fraser. She married Donald Parnell on August 11, 1946, at the First Baptist Church, Litchfield. He died on September 22, 2000. Marjorie graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1945. Upon graduation, she was employed in the office of the Brown Shoe Company. In later years, she did child care in her home until her children were grown. She was then employed part time at Worley Wear clothing store and later, at Millburg Furniture Store as sales clerk. After her retirement, she and her husband delivered Meals On Wheels.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Litchfield. In earlier years she, taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and was a member of the JOY Sunday School Class. Her hobbies were taking walks, word search puzzles, movies, and spending time with her family.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and husband, were her son-in-law, James Keith; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Parnell; 2 sisters, Bernice Baker and Marilyn McLauchlan; her brother, Robert Fraser and a great-grandson, Austin Ray.

She is survived by a son, Allen Parnell, of Warrensburg; daughters, Sandra Keith, of Litchfield and Donna (Tim) Price, of Staunton; a sister, Mary Ann Knabel, of Decatur; grandchildren, Carrie (Kevin) Ray, of Mt. Zion; Christopher (Stacey) Keith, of Alton, Matthew (Lisa) Parnell, of Decatur; Jillian (Tyler) Obrien, of Hamel; Evan Price, of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Brentleigh Keith and Brody Keith, of Alton; Colton Ray, of Mt. Zion; Rowan Obrien, of Hamel, and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials can be directed to Hearts United of Litchfield.  Plummer Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the family.
