Luella May Buske, 76, of Litchfield, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 2:44 a.m. at Litchfield Health and Rehabilitation Center in Litchfield. She was born on May 10, 1950, a daughter of Leonard Harold and Luella June (Titcomb) Pruitt. Luella graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 1968. She married Delmar Ray Buske on January 31, 1969, in Litchfield. He survives. Luella attended Southside Church in Litchfield. Luella dedicated decades to supporting the military community through leadership roles at every level. She was the current President of the American Legion Unit 1922 Ladies Auxiliary and previously led the entire state as the President of the Department of Illinois American Legion Ladies Auxiliary from 2016 to 2017. Her dedication extended nationally, where she was currently serving with distinction as the National Le Demi Chapeau of the 8&40.
Beyond her volunteer work, Luella was a woman of vibrant talents and hobbies. She had a sharp creative eye and found great joy in crafting, sewing, and creating intricate diamond art pieces. Her kitchen was always a source of warmth and comfort; she was an exceptional cook whose excellent homemade pies will be deeply missed by all who tasted them. An avid collector, Luella delighted in filling her home with beautiful Pioneer Woman kitchenware and decor.
Above all her accomplishments, Luella’s greatest joy was her family. She was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren.
