Lila E. Irvine

Lila E. Irvine, 95, long-time resident of Litchfield, IL, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, Illinois.

Lila was born on January 3, 1930, to Henry and Freida (Simmering) Schroeder. Lila graduated from Litchfield High School in 1948 and married Melvin Lee Irvine on June 4, 1950. In 1952, Lila and Melvin started Irvine Studio in Litchfield, taking wedding photographs and portraits of thousands of customers until it closed in 2001. Lila also worked as a licensed insurance agent at Graham and Stolle and later obtained her real estate license, working for several Litchfield businesses. Lila ended her working career as a receptionist for Litchfield Health Care until her retirement.

Lila volunteered at the Route 66 Museum and the Litchfield Food Pantry. She was a lifetime member and volunteer of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield.  She was an avid dog lover and always adopted her beloved pets from the local shelter.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; her parents, Henry and Freida Schroeder; and three siblings, Carl (Lorraine) Schroeder, Alta Schroeder and Lois (Albert) McCarthy. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Bernard) Piercy and Nancy (Dennis) Freeze; grandchildren Douglas Piercy and Renee (Charles) Ledford; great-grandchildren Payton (Carter) Pearson and Jayden Ledford; and great-great-grandson, Lincoln Pearson.

Funeral services for Lila will be held at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield on Saturday, March 15, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and service to follow at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield or Adopt-A-Pet in Benld, Illinois.
