Kenneth D. Walch

Kenneth Dale Walch, 77, of Litchfield, passed away on Thurs., Oct. 1, 2020 at 8:30 a.m. in Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.  He was born on Oct. 12, 1942, in Litchfield, IL, a son of Purl and Elfreda (White) Walch.  Mr. Walch graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 1961.  He married the former Penny Jo Newkirk on Dec. 4, 1998 in Irving, TX.  She survives.  In his earlier years, Kenneth worked at Dean White Construction, International Paper, House of Sunshine – Henrichs Publications, F.W. Means Clean Towel, and Poggenpohl Redi-Mix.  Mr. Walch later was a security officer for 20 years at Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro until his retirement in 2001.  He was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Raymond.  Mr. Walch was an avid Cardinals fan.  He enjoyed doing yard work and cutting firewood, cleaning cars, and especially spending time with his family, as well as watching the grandchildren’s sporting events.  You could always find Ken and Penny at Jubelt’s, Maverick, Denny’s, and many other local area eateries.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

             Curtis (Dawn) Walch both of Raymond

1 daughter, Cheri (Robert) Whitman of Litchfield

8 grandchildren, Craig (Mikka Lipe) Walch, Jr.; Kate (Trevor Viehweg) Walch; Kari (Tony) Dragoo; Addie Walch; Kylie Bates; Clayton Walch; Emma Walch; Elise Walch

Mr. Walch was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Loretta Lowe Walch; 1 sister in infancy, Sherry.

Funeral services will be held on Tues., Oct 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  Rev. Dave Ziegenbein of Pleasant Hill Christian Church in Raymond will officiate.  Burial will be in Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Honey Bend.  Visitation will be held from 4 -7 p.m. on Mon., Oct. 5, 2020 at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.
