Kay (Smith) Burdell

Linda “Kay” Burdell, 71, of Litchfield, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at 5:45 p.m., at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  She was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on January 19, 1952, to Wilbur V. and Mary K. (Wilson) Smith.  Mrs. Burdell took pride in her number one job of raising her children in the ways of the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking for her family, planting flowers, and caring for her hummingbirds.  Kay was a loved member of Southside Church for over 40 years and enjoyed volunteering in several outreaches and ministries.  She exuded the love of Christ, and her faith, strength, and wisdom inspired all who knew her.

Her husband, Mark Burdell.

2 sons, David (Tara) Burdell, of Chatham, IL and Joshua (Aimee) Burdell, of Litchfield, IL.

1 daughter, Shannon (Charles) Diveley of Litchfield, IL.

1 daughter-in-law, Stephanie Burdell, of Springfield, IL.

1 brother, Rick (Terry) Smith, of Brunswick, MO.

7 grandchildren, Hannah (Kyle) Torry, Ashton (Caleb) Crawford, Ally Burdell, Emma Diveley, Isaiah Burdell, Malachi Diveley, and Noah Burdell.

1 great-granddaughter, Vera Torry.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burdell was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald D. Smith and her son, Kevin V. Burdell.

Visitation and funeral services for Mrs. Burdell will be held at Southside Church in Litchfield, IL.  Pastor Nathan Diveley will officiate.  Visitation will be Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at Southside Church.  Private burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Southside Church.
