Joyce Ann Ostermann

Joyce Ann Ostermann, 73, of Ft. Wayne, IN., formerly of Litchfield, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024 in Decatur, IL.  Born August 20, 1951, in Litchfield, IL. The daughter of Walter Henry and Bernice Amanda (Klekamp) Ostermann. She graduated from Litchfield Community High School with the Class of 1969. 

Joyce graduated from Concordia University in St. Louis, MO., and Valparaiso University, Valparaiso, IN., and received her MBA from Purdue University, Fort Wayne, IN.  She was the administrator for The Lutheran Home in Kendallville, IN., for several years.  She was then employed by Concordia Seminary in social services at the Ft. Wayne campus for twenty-seven years.  She was currently serving as a deaconess for the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. 

Joyce was a member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Ft. Wayne.   In earlier years, Joyce was very active with the Girl Scouts of America of Central Illinois. 

Surviving are; her lifelong friend, Mary L. King and her daughter Elizabeth King both of Ft. Wayne, IN.  Her brothers, James E. “Big O” Ostermann of Litchfield, and John (Tanja Goad) Ostermann of Taylor Springs, IL.  Nieces and Nephews; Tiffany (Aaron Saathoff) Ostermann and Tabitha Ostermann of Litchfield.  Vicki Walker, Lisa (Thomas) Green, and Joseph Ritzmann all of Cameron, MO.  Ty (Maria) Goad of South Bend, IN., Toby Goad of Taylor Springs, IL., Tanner, Carson, and Ethan Saathoff all of Litchfield.   Aunts, Dorothy Mansholt and Elva Klekamp and cousins, Janet Searle, David (Beth) Klekamp, Jane (Jim) Martin, and Nancy (Scott Cossiboom) Hyam.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, uncles William Klekamp and Lorman Mansholt. And her sister-in-law, Vickie L. Osterman.

Funeral services for Joyce will be held Saturday, August 31, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield.  The Rev. Fred Kraemer will officiate and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. 

The family asks memorials be directed to the Concordia Deaconess Conference, LCMS. Or to St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Ft. Wayne, IN.

A memorial service for Deaconess Joyce Ostermann, will be held Friday, Sept 20, 2024 at  11:00 a.m. at St Paul Lutheran Church, 1126 Barr Street, Fort Wayne, IN.
