Joan Jeanette Jones, of Litchfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at 3:35 a.m. in Hillsboro Area Hospital with her daughters by her side, at the age of 94. She was born on October 15, 1926 in Harvel, Illinois. She was the daughter of Walter H. Zimmerman and Mary F. (Wiegreffe) Zimmerman. Joan grew up in Harvel and graduated from Harvel High School. She married Howard Keith Jones on November 15, 1947. Joan was a housewife and also worked with her family business, Zimmerman Equipment Company. In her earlier years she and her husband enjoyed golfing, traveling, and wintering in Jensen Beach, Florida. She was a member of Union Avenue Christian Church and the Litchfield Country Club. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family including her girls, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going out to dinner with her friends. Joan has been described as a “very classy lady”, a “legend”, and a “true friend.” She is remembered for her quick wit and dry sense of humor and will be missed by many!

7 great-grandchildren, Tucker, Tessa, and Teagan Pastrovich, Grace and Griffin Gorowski, and Addy and Owen Winans
6 step-great-grandchildren, Jason, Jenna, and Jared Shell, and Devon, Trae, and Isaiah Shell
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Mary Zimmerman, her husband, Howard, 1 son-in-law, Walter Shell, and 1 infant sister, Donna Zimmerman
Private Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021 at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Cassie Sexton-Riggs will officiate. Private Family Interment will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. A walk-through visitation will be held on Thurs., Jan. 7, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to Union Avenue Christian Church, Hearts United or Litchfield Country Club. Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing and masks will be required.
