Joan M. Davis

Joan Marie Watts Eppinger Davis of Litchfield passed away peacefully at 94, at Gillespie Health and Rehab Center on February 10, 2026.  She was born February 9, 1932 in Litchfield the 8th child of Argale and Verda (Hall) Watts. Joan was baptized in 1943 at Union Avenue Christian Church and remained a life long member, where she and Robert Lee Eppinger were married on February 1, 1952.

Joan worked for Atty Burt McWilliams after graduating from Litchfield High School in 1950, then retired from Buske Trucking in 1983, after 20 years of dispatch and office work.  After her retirement, she worked at the Macoupin County Health Dept. and volunteered at Heritage Health nursing home in Gillespie. She enjoyed traveling, reading, bowling, and playing scrabble with her sisters.

Joan is survived by 1 brother, Arthur Watts, 4 children; 3 sons, Robert Eppinger, Timothy (Terri) Eppinger, Charles (Eunhee) Eppinger, and one daughter, Jamel (Gary) Michalik; Two grandsons, Matt (Monica) Eppinger, Adam (Vanessa) Eppinger, 4 granddaughters; Jennifer (Mike) Alexander, Leslie (AJ) Barnett, Erin (Greg) Bowers, & Betsy Eppinger. 4 great-granddaughters; Kambrilyn, Wrigley, Brooklyn, and Isabella. 3 great-grandsons; William, Griffin, Zion, one great-great-granddaughter, Wilder.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, 5 sisters, Anna Mae Watts, Juanita Goff, Norma Watts, Ellen Clelland, & Erma Niehaus, and 1 brother Charles Watts, daughter-in-law, Jane Eppinger and an infant granddaughter, Kim Eppinger.

Memorial services for Joan will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
