Joan Gail (Barnes) Bangert

Joan Gail Bangert, 72, of Litchfield, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 11:25 a.m. at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Mrs. Bangert was born June 17, 1950 in Litchfield, a daughter of Lewis and Rose (Stansbie) Barnes. She graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 1968. She and Robert G. Bangert, Sr. were married on October 26, 1968 in Litchfield. He preceded in her death on July 1, 2000. Mrs. Bangert was a member of First Baptist Church in Litchfield. She provided child care and did housekeeping over the years. She enjoyed dancing, being with her church group, having coffee with her friends, traveling, camping and boating.

A son, Robert G. (Karri) Bangert, Jr. of Litchfield

A daughter, Michele (John) Hopper of Litchfield

9 grandchildren, Derek (Katie) Bangert; Kelsey (Dylan) Dewitt; Austin Bangert; John (Katelynn) Snell; Zechariah (Hannah) Snell; Clayton Snell; Heather Hopper; Eric Hopper; and Zoe Hopper

3 great-grandchildren, Waylon Bangert; Owen Dewitt; and Zaiden Snell

A sister, Sheila (Larry) Maroney of Litchfield

Mrs. Bangert was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bangert will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Steve Benthal will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to the Family of Joan Bangert, c/o Robert G.
