James Russell Walls, Sr.

James Russell Walls, Sr., 58, of Litchfield, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 2:23 p.m. at his residence.  Born July 10, 1963 in East St. Louis, IL., a son of Olas Thompson and Mary Catherine (Grayson) Walls, Sr.  Mr. Walls was a graduate of St. Genevieve High School, class of 1981.  He graduated from Wabash Valley Community College with an associates degree in gunsmithing.  He was employed as a mechanic for the U.S. Postal Service main Post Office in St. Louis, MO.

Mr. Walls was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield. He was a member of the Cahokia Creek Dirt Bike Riders Club, White City Hill Climbers and the American Motocross Assn.

While he enjoyed riding both dirt bikes and motorcycles in general, he also enjoyed fishing and hunting and shooting his rifles and handguns and using his gunsmithing skills. 

Mr. Walls married the former Sheila Renee Hasty on February 23, 1994 in Belleville, IL.   They later divorced, but remained friends and she survives.  Additional survivors include:

2 sons; James R. Walls, II of Maryville, IL and Joseph D. Walls of Troy, IL

1 brother; Michael R. (Vickie) Mills of Poplar Bluff, MO

3 sisters; Janice (Hugh) Burris of Waterloo, IL, Donna (Ronnie) King of Hillsboro, MO and

Louise (Edward) Davis of Sorento, IL 

1 grandson: Waylon Brooks Walls.

Mr. Walls is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers; Tommy D. Walls, Gary W. Whitledge, Olas T. “Dimp” Walls, Jr., and Robert L. Walls, and 1 sister, Linda Smith. 

The family suggests memorials be directed to: Litchfield Food Pantry.

No Services are planned for Mr. Walls. Cremation services have been provided by the Plummer Funeral and Cremation Services of Litchfield.
