James T. Brown, Sr.

James Thomas Brown, Sr., 80, of Litchfield, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2020 at 3:39 a.m. in HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.  He was born on Sept. 13, 1939, in East St. Louis, IL, a son of Paul P. & Dolly Daphnie (Whittacker) Brown.  Mr. Brown’s first marriage was to the former Marion Jean Hampton on June 21, 1959 at Union Avenue Christian Church in Litchfield.  She preceded him in death on March 2, 2010.  James later married Charlene June (Perrine) Fairless on Nov. 12, 2011 at Raymond Baptist Church in Raymond.  She survives.  Mr. Brown was employed at CPC – Rexel (International Paper Co.) in Litchfield as a Printing Operator for several years.  He had also worked for Wepco Manufacturing in Litchfield.  James was a drummer for over 40 years with various local bands.  Mr. Brown attended New Hope Baptist Church in Litchfield.  James was a long time member and a past officer of the Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634.  He enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle, fishing, and was an avid Cardinals fan.  In addition to his wife Charlene, he is survived by:

James was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Marion; 4 brothers, Paul Brown, Jr., Terry Brown, Richard Brown, and Donald Brown; 1 sister, Billie Brown; 2 grandchildren, Nicholas Brown, Thomas Brown.

Funeral services for Mr. Brown will be held on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  Paul Jones will officiate.  Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home.  The family suggests memorials be made to Mooseheart.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions and requirements social distancing and masks are required.
