Howard “Dale” Odle, 91, of Litchfield, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, in Waverly, IL. Born in Litchfield, IL to Elmer A. & Nora F. (Mitchell) Odle on October 22, 1933. He was a graduate of Litchfield High School. He then married Barbara L. Morgan on September 20, 1952, in Arkansas and she survives.
Mr. Odle enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 and reenlisted several times. Through his experiences of the many years he served, he became the head electrician on the commissioned USS Morton. Once home, he worked at Roller Derby Skate Corporation, International Paper, CPC Rexel, & Sierra, with his main focus as an electrician. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing basketball, bowling, & slow-pitch softball. Dale loved hunting, fishing, trap shooting, riding horse, or riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Litchfield Sportsman Club and life member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge 1634. He also built the home that he and his family enjoyed on South Chestnut St. in Litchfield.
Dale is survived not only by his wife, Barbara, but also by his sons, Steven Odle and Scott Odle, both of Litchfield, his daughter, Donna (Russell) Odle-Walls of Waverly, IL, his sister, Judy (Ray) Riemenschneider of Litchfield, his grandchildren, Josh, Devon, Wade, & Joe Odle, and great-grandchildren, Al & Mallie.
Mr. Odle was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Howard Dale Odle, Jr., a brother, Harold Odle, and his sisters, Virginia Clardy, Verna Roach, Norma Rosenthal, & Doris Odle.
Memorial services are planned for Mr. Dale Odle on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Litchfield. Rev. Gary Schwab will officiate. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation is from 1:00 pm until the time of services.
