Helen Louise Corn, 95, of Litchfield, passed away on Tues., July 6, 2021 at 1:01 a.m. in her home. She was born on Aug. 7, 1925, in Salem, KY, a daughter of James Henry and Ruth Elizabeth (Walker) Gilland. Helen graduated from Tolu, KY high school with the Class of 1942. She married Learner F. Corn on Nov. 24, 1945 in Marion, KY. He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1983. Helen and Learner moved to Litchfield in 1951. She started working at the Subway restaurant and then was a waitress at The Gardens in Litchfield for 43 years. She later worked with Community Care Systems in Springfield as a Field Supervisor for Montgomery, Macoupin, and Sangamon Counties until her retirement. Helen attended Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. She was a member of Union Avenue Christian Church where she served as Deaconess for 18 years and belonged to Tops for many years. Helen loved to sew and make flower arrangements. She enjoyed shopping and working in the yard and with flowers. She was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan. Helen is survived by:

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; Son-in-law, James Easterly; 2 sisters, Virginia Corn and Laverne Croft; Nephew, James Dennis Corn, Jr.; Niece, Kay Painchaud.
Funeral services will be held on Sat., July 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Cynthia Munker of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church & Rev. Tracy Armstrong of Winchester, IL will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Fri., July 9, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be designated to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church or Litchfield Food Pantry.
