Gary Lee Kolkhorst, 77, of Litchfield, formerly of Raymond and Harvel, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 7:56 a.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro, IL., after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born August 20, 1942 in Litchfield, IL, A son of Wilbert Herman and Wilma Vera Caroline (Brockmeyer) Kolkhorst. Mr. Kolkhorst was a graduate of Raymond High School, Class of 1960. He married the former Sherlyn “Sherry” Kay Clevenger on June 24, 1962 at St. James Lutheran Church in Harvel, IL, and she survives.
Mr. Kolkhorst was a lifelong farmer, farming in the Raymond and Harvel areas. He was a member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, serving for several years on the Board of Directors, and is past-president. He served as a volunteer firefighter for several years with the Raymond- Harvel Fire Department and was a member of the 3M Firefighters Association. Mr. Kolkhorst enjoyed St. Louis Cardinals baseball and was a big fan.

Son, Mark (Char) Kolkhorst of Overland Park, KS., Daughter, Marci (Greg) Millburg of Sycamore, IL., Brother, Ron Kolkhorst of Chicago, IL., 5 grandchildren; Lexie, Kyle and Adam Millburg, Samantha (Fiancé, Austin Denny) Kolkhorst, and Sophie Kolkhorst. Additional survivors include a nephew, Bradley Kolkhorst and a niece, Ronda Clarke.
Mr. Kolkhorst is preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Wilma Kolkhorst.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. The Rev. James F. Ritter will officiate, and burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Friends may call Tuesday, from 3:00 until 7:00p.m. at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.
