Gary Frank Birkenkamp, 66, of Litchfield, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in Springfield, Illinois. He was born in Litchfield, IL, April 20, 1959, a son of Frank Fred and Margaret Blanche “Peggy” (Wikoff) Birkenkamp. He attended Gillespie High School. Gary and the former Laurie Ann Carlock were married January 15, 1977, at First Baptist Church in Litchfield. They enjoyed nearly 49 years of marriage. She survives. Gary was the maintenance supervisor for Schutt Sports Group in Litchfield for 30 years. He was a member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634, an avid golfer, and enjoyed camping and fishing. Gary was a great handyman and repairman. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His daughter, Shannon (Cory) Bishop of Litchfield
His brothers, Ronald (Brenda) Kirby of Hornsby and Fred Birkenkamp of Benld
His sisters, Debbie (Russell) Vaught and Patty (Mark) Rands, all of Dorchester
Grandchildren, Rylie (Jake) Maddox, Raquel (Austin Woods) Bishop, Brock Bishop, Brevin Birkenkamp, and Tinley Birkenkamp
Great-grandchildren, Rowan Maddox and Baker Woods.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Peggy Birkenkamp, and brothers Mark Birkenkamp and James Michael Kirby.
Funeral services for Gary will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10, 2025, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at Plummer Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Moose Scholarship Fund.
