Florence Marie Pierce, 107, of Litchfield, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025, at Litchfield Health and Rehab. She was born on March 26, 1918, a daughter of Frances “Frank” James and Emma Josephine (Ewing) Leatherby. She married Orren Wayne Pierce on March 19, 1960, in Litchfield. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage until his passing on June 17, 2018. Mrs. Pierce was a laundress and folder for the F.W. Means Co., later known as Clean Towel Co. She saw many changes during her 107 years. She was an avid camper and loved music and dancing. She was known for her crafting skills and enjoyed crochet, embroidery, and quilting. Mrs. Pierce was an excellent cook, and treasured spending time with her family.

Mrs. Pierce was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Emma Leatherby, husband, Wayne Pierce, son, Nicholas Hayes, siblings Thornton “T.J.” Leatherby, Frances Schuster, Wilford Leatherby (in infancy) and a great-great-granddaughter, Madison Shepler.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pierce will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Kevin Auten of Meadowbrook First Southern Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Gillespie City Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be directed to Benld Adopt-A-Pet, 807 Stewart Avenue, Benld, IL, 62009.
