Evelyn Ruth Weber, age 90, of Litchfield, passed away on Mon., Jan. 4, 2021 at 7:56 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Hospital in St. Charles, Mo. Born on August 20, 1930 in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of Herman August and Mary Tina (Veit) Gruber. She graduated with the Litchfield High School Class of 1948. Evelyn married Rev. Dwight Ortwin Weber on July 1, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. He preceded her in death on October 4, 1999. She was a housewife and also worked for the Litchfield Creamery Co./Milnot for 14 years. Her service and ministry as a pastor’s wife took her to the following churches and communities; St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lewistown, MT. from 1964-1966; Our Savior Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, IL. From 1966-1973 & dual parish of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Steeleville, IL & Immanuel Lutheran Church, Campbell Hill, IL from 1973-1995. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield, Lutherans Women’s Missionary League, Ladies Aid, Faith Bible Class and Phi Zigma Nu Sorority. Mrs. Weber enjoyed reading, solving word puzzles, quilting with Zion Quilters for World Relief, and playing pinochle.

11 grandchildren, Nick (Kelly) Loeffler, Kim Loeffler, Zakary Nikkila, Paxton Nikkila, Zane Nikkila, Rebekah Weber, Leah Weber, Suzannah Weber, Nathanael Weber, Audrey Weber, Emily Weber
1 great-granddaughter, Parker Nikkila
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 1 sister, Dorothy Gruber; 1 brother, Russell Gruber; 1 son-in-law, Eric Nikkila
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Rev. Fred Kraemer will officiate. Committal Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul’s Wine Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at Zion Lutheran Church. Memorials may be designated to The Lutheran Hour, Zion Lutheran Church of Litchfield or St. Paul’s Church of Wine Hill, IL. Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing and masks will be required.
