Dorothy E. West

Dorothy Evelyn West, 96, of Litchfield, passed away on Wed., Sept. 30, 2020 at 12:04 a.m. in HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.  She was born on Feb. 26, 1924, in Litchfield, IL, a daughter of Clinton and Lorine (Laurent) Calcott.  After graduating, she married George Frederick West on February 28, 1942 in Chicago, IL.  He preceded her in death on June 17, 2003.  Together they owned and operated Litchfield Rug & Furniture Cleaners for 38 years.  Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church in Litchfield.  She was very active with the Zonta Club over the years.  She is survived by:

1 son, Philip (Patty) West of Litchfield

2 daughters, Carol Stuttle

                     Sandra (Brent) Rutherford both of Litchfield

8 grandchildren, Janna Witherell, Danna Luttrell, Stephanie Fossum, Nikki (Steve) Niemann, Troy (Renee) Rutherford, Craig (Megan) Rutherford, Colin West, Michelle (Nicholas) Stefani

11 great-grandchildren, Terra Luttrell, Christopher Luttrell, Brianna Witherell, Brittany Niemann, Brooke Niemann, Blake Niemann, Grayson Rutherford, Keegan Rutherford, Brayden Rutherford, Luca Stefani, Haley Fossum

1 great-great-granddaughter, BraeLynne Wicker

In addition to her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Gary West; and 1 sister, Laverne Bullock.

Funeral services for Dorothy will be held on Mon., Oct. 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield.  Rev. Jason Plumer of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield will officiate.  Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.  The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church or the Litchfield Food Pantry.  Due to CDC guidelines and restrictions, social distancing rules apply, and masks will be required.
