Dorothy Lee Arnett, 97, of Litchfield, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 8:58 a.m. at Heritage Health and Senior Care in Litchfield.
Born January 1, 1926, in Staunton, IL, the daughter of Ben O. and Annette M. (Pollard) Funk. She was a graduate of Litchfield Community High School, Class of 1943. She also graduated from St. Louis Business College in 1944. She married Robert Jack Arnett, whom she truly loved, on March 2, 1947, in Decatur, IL. Mr. Arnett passed away June 29, 2008.
Mrs. Arnett graduated from the School of Cosmetology in Alton, IL, in 1960, and from the Merle Norman Cosmetics Program in 1965. Mrs. Arnett owned and operated Arnett’s Beauty Salon and Merle Norman Cosmetics Studio in the 400 block of North Monroe St. for 30 years until she retired in 1985. She took great pride and joy in making women beautiful. She and her late husband Jack owned and operated Jack’s Corner Restaurant & Truck Stop on Route 66 at Barnette Road, north of Litchfield for several years. They owned and operated Arnett Real Estate and Insurance, and Arnett Apartments. Mrs. Arnett enjoyed dancing and was a volunteer at Hearts United.
Mrs. Arnett is survived by two daughters, Pam Voyles and Bonnie Wegener, both of Litchfield.
Three grandchildren; Craig Langen, Amy Jett and Andy Simmons. Three great grandchildren; Heather Jett, Stephanie Edwards and Colby Langen. She dearly loved her Shih-Tzu, Ginger.
Preceding Mrs. Arnett in death are her parents and husband.
A graveside committal service will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Rev. Gary Schwab, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Litchfield will officiate. The Plummer Funeral and Cremation Service is serving the family.
