Doris Mae Gray, 94, of Butler, IL passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 3:02 pm at Aviston Countryside Manor in Aviston, IL. She was born in Hillsboro, IL. on October 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Russel and Harriet E. (Maddox) Stephenson. Doris married Joseph A. Gray on December 15, 1945 in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1996 after celebrating 50 years of marriage. Doris was a wonderful homemaker and also worked at The Gardens for over 30 years. She attended the Butler Union Church in Butler. She devoted her entire life to raising her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She delighted in their achievements most of all; attending all of the extracurricular activities and sporting events she was able to. She was an outstanding cook; with Christmas being her favorite holiday; she delighted in decorating and baking for it. She was an avid gardener loving to raise all types of flowers and vegetables. She loved nature, especially birds and all wildlife. Joe & Doris enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Las Vegas and she loved the games of chance.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 3 brothers George, Willis and Benny Stephenson. Two sisters Joyce Leetham and Marcella Boone and an infant grandson, Corby Sheridan.
Funeral services for Doris will be held Wednesday November 18, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at Plummer Funeral Home; visitation will precede the funeral from 10:30 am until the time of services. Burial will be at Elm Lawn Memorial Park, in Litchfield, IL. Due to CDC guidelines, social distancing rules will apply and masks will be required.
