Donald Lee Koonce, 84, of Litchfield, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 9:08 a.m. at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Born in Litchfield, on November 24, 1936, the son of William Allen and Alice Lorraine (DeWitt) Koonce. He attended Litchfield schools. He was a Veteran of the U.S Army, and served during peacetime and was stationed in Germany. He married the former Nancy Lee (Hemken) Jarman on June 4, 1965 in Litchfield, and she survives. Mr. Koonce was employed at Allis – Chalmers / Fiat-Allis in Springfield for several years until his retirement.
Mr. Koonce was a member of the Litchfield Moose Lodge #1634. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, mushrooming, bowling, shooting pool and gardening. His favorite thing to do was dancing, and he also enjoyed playing music.

3 sons: Wade (Jaime) Koonce of Litchfield, IL., Tim Jarman of Mitchell, IL., and Mark (Chris) Jarman of Hillsboro, IL.
3 daughters: Amy (Brian) Olson of Port Charlotte, FL., Kathy (Randy) Boden of Litchfield, IL., and Tammy (Mike) Robb of Standard City, IL.
10 grandchildren: Adrienne Koonce, Kristen (Justin) Plasters, Christopher Olson, Randy Boden, JR., (fiancée Katie McKinney), Chelsey Boden, Dylan Boden, Timothy Jarman, Samantha Jarman, Kayla (Terry) Wyhs, John (Kelsey) Robb, and 13 great grandchildren.
Mr. Koonce is preceded in death by: His parents, step mother; Joan (nee Ross) Koonce, son; Bud “Alpo” Jarman, his sister; Delores “Dodie” Biscan, and granddaughter; Niki Hogue.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at the Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Rudy Elam and Wayne Fenton Deacon of the Walshville Baptist Church will co-officiate. Burial will be in the Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Montgomery County Cancer Assn., or the Litchfield Veterans Memorial Garden.
