Donald Lee Garst

Donald Lee Garst, 93, of Litchfield, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 13, 2020 at 3:23 a.m. in Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care in Carlinville.  He was born on May 10, 1927 in Girard, IL, a son of Alvy and Stella (Lutz) Garst.  Mr. Garst was a Veteran of the Illinois National Guard, Korean War.  He married the former Nancy Ann Coss on August 17, 1956 in Girard, IL.  She preceded him in death on June 12, 1996.  Mr. Garst was a Welder for Allis-Chalmers / Fiat – Allis in Springfield.  Mr. Garst had also worked for the City of Litchfield as the Custodian for several years.  He enjoyed gardening.  Mr. Garst is survived by:

Graveside service for Mr. Garst will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.  Private family visitation will be held prior to the service.  The family suggests memorials be made to Montgomery County Cancer Association or Litchfield Veteran’s Memorial Garden.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, social distancing rules will apply and masks will be required.
