David Lee Waggoner, 67, of Waggoner passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 26, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. He was born June 3, 1954, in Litchfield, a son of Joe LeRoy and Mary Lou (Edmundson) Waggoner. He graduated from Lincolnwood High School in 1972 and went on to earn an Associates Degree in Mechanics at Lincoln Land Community College. David and the former Deborah “Debbie” Lea Bedinghaus were married October 6, 1978 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Farmersville. She survives. He was a lifetime farmer, and a shop foreman for the Montgomery County Highway Department for over 30 years. He was employed at Balsley Implement Company at Morrisonville for several years. David was secretary of the Pitman Township Park District, a member of the Waggoner Centennial Players and the Shoal Creek Golf League. He was known for his bigger than life personality. He was dearly loved, cherished and he will be missed by so many. In addition to his wife Debbie, he is survived by:
2 sons, Brandon (Lindsay) Waggoner of Williamsville, IL and Dane (Katie) Waggoner of Decatur, IL.
5 grandchildren, Briar Clark; Emery Clark; Bentley Waggoner; Jackson Waggoner; and Abigail Waggoner.
1 sister, Karen (Larry) Kraus of Farmersville, IL
1 sister-in-law, Jeanne Waggoner of Farmersville, IL.
David was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dennis Waggoner.
Funeral services for David will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with Tom Mulch officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Ridge Cemetery in Atwater. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Waggoner Centennial Building.
