David Thomas Nimmons

David Thomas Nimmons, 72, of Litchfield passed away on Sat. Jan. 16, 2021 at 10:35 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.  He was born on May 8, 1948, in Litchfield, IL, a son of Ralph Joseph and Maxine Irene (Hunt) Nimmons.  Mr. Nimmons graduated from Litchfield High School with the Class of 1966. He was a Veteran of Vietnam as a Command Sgt. Major with the U.S. Army and worked at Johnson Atoll Island during his term until his retirement.  In his later years he worked at Propellex in Donnellson as an explosive’s inspector.  He married Lori Mae (Hall) on April 17, 1993 in Litchfield. She survives. David enjoyed hunting, and playing around on his John Deere Tractor. He enjoyed and treasured his grandsons, Maddux and Sammy, and his wife Lori.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by:

1 daughter, Angela Norris

1 step-daughter, Christina (Tyler) Hornback of Sherman, IL.

2 brothers, Pat (Cindy) Brown of Pittsfield, IL.

                     John (Tonia) Nimmons of Helenville, WI.

1 sister, Joanne (Lyndal) Kraner, Woodburn, IL.

3 grandchildren, Petra Nimmons, Maddux Hornback, Sammy Hornback.

David was preceded in death by his parents and 1 son, Thomas Wayne Nimmons. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday Jan. 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Jon Magnuson of Beacon Church will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be held Wed., Jan. 20, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Plummer Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to Coats for Kids.
