Carol Ann (Large) Schmidt

Carol Ann Schmidt, 77, of Litchfield, passed away on Sat., March 5, 2022 at 6:20 p.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro. She was born on July 31, 1944, in Carlinville, IL, a daughter of Floyd Milton and Constance Fern (Brimberry) Large. She married Carl Edwin Schmidt on August 1, 1964 at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield and they divorced in 2018. He precedes her in death. Mrs. Schmidt was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield and Women of the Moose Chapter 581. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and was noted for her decorating skills. Mrs. Schmidt was employed as a laborer at Echlin and Midwest Target Co. She also worked as a cook throughout the years at Skinny’s Café, Care Inn Convalescent Center and Donna Holloway’s Catering Service. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by:

4 sons, Tim (Tammy) Schmidt of Girard, IL; Matt (Cathy) Schmidt; Jeff Schmidt; and Jon (Kate) Schmidt, all of Litchfield.

2 brothers, Richard (Edith) Large of Idaho Falls, ID; and Martin (Jean) Large of De Soto, MO.

1 sister, Wanda Blevins of Litchfield.

8 grandchildren, Mitchell Schmidt; Mariah Schmidt; Kayla Schmidt; Casson Schmidt; Dalton Schmidt; Bryson Schmidt; Hannah Schmidt; and Wade Schmidt.

2 step-grandchildren, Christopher Rawlings and Tracy (Sean) Bray

4 great-grandchildren, Jaxsyn and Owyn Wallace; and Oliver and Rowan Reif.

Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Floyd Large; and a grandson, Carter Matthew Schmidt.

Funeral services for Mrs. Schmidt will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Rev. Fred Kraemer of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Plummer Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials be made to Litchfield Sports Boosters or Litchfield Music Boosters.
