Betty J (Cross) Hadley

Betty J. Hadley, 88, of Witt, IL passed away February 13,2025 in East Peoria, IL. She was born April 24,1936 in Paducah, Texas to parents Bessy Potts and John David Cross. She spent all her youth living in Texas which was evident by her charming southern accent.

Betty fell in love with James N. Hadley while he was in the US Air Force stationed in Texas. They married in Clovis, NM on December 6, 1953. Together they moved and traveled the US and abroad as the US Air Force would take them many places. After retiring from the military, they settled in Witt, IL where they spent many years with family and friends and raising their 3 sons.

She loved spending time engaged with the Witt Lioness activities, Witt Labor Day Celebration, building and repairing clocks with her husband, gardening and loving on her many family members.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James, a twin sister, her parents, daughter in law Lisa and many beloved brothers and sisters.

Betty is survived by her sons, James R. (Robin) Hadley, Kenneth Hadley, and Donald Hadley; 6 Grandchildren: Donald James Hadley (Kiera), Cody Hadley (Danielle), Wyatt Hadley (Hannah), Rachel Hadley Flesch (Chris), Mason Hadley (Chelsea), and Michael Hadley.

There will be a private celebration of life planned for Betty at a later date.
